"Naked ladies! Oh Wowee!"- Toki Wartooth

Toki Wartooth is a fictional member of the virtual Death Metal band Dethklok and the band's current rhythm guitarist. He is voiced by show's creator and co-writer Tommy Blacha.

AppearanceEdit

Toki sports a distinct whisker-like style of mustache known as the Fu Manchu, has light brown hair and very pale blue eyes often found in those of Finnish descent. He develops a sun tan during the episode Bluesklok whereas the other four band members become horribly sunburned; a rather common phenomenon among those who live in areas of high altitude (closer to the sun, means more of a tan). Toki is one of the shorter members of Dethklok, standing just above Pickles, and is the only member of the band depicted as being physically fit, showing developed muscle structure at times when he is shirtless or partially dressed.

ConceptEdit

Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth is sometimes thought to be the inspiration for Toki's appearance, however this has been proven to be a rumor. ^[1].

PersonalityEdit

Toki has a personality that is more naive, innocent, and good-natured than the rest of the band, though he may share their love of metal and brutality, sometimes more than others. Toki often displays childlike reasoning and childish beliefs. He has an active imagination and occasionally experiences whimsical, colorful flights of fantasy as seen in Dethwater, Dethkids and Dethhealth. He is less perverse than the rest of the band members when referring to sexuality, and is known to express his great enjoyment of hugging and kissing rather than practiceing guitar. He also is shown to panic, screw-up or generally fail to be able to hold responsibilities whenever he is given them.

Although, in spite of his childlike ways, Toki occasionally expresses a dark side, including sadism (exemplified best in "Dethgov" where he sports an erection after humiliating an assistant, as well as his glee at the idea of murdering Rachael Ray), arson (burning Mordhaus with a flamethrower in "Dethkids"), torture (knocking out, punching and tazoring Nathan in "Girlfriendklok") and lawlessness (firing a gun at police in "Dethrace"). In "Snakes N' Barrels II", while at the concert, Toki is practically driven insane by a wild, enthusiastic audience member breathing down his neck, and turns on the poor fan, brutally beating him half to death.

Hailing from Norway, Toki tends to slur his words and has inconsistencies with the letter s similar to Skwisgaar's, though Toki's English is generally better. Despite this, both Toki and Skwisgaar call Pickles 'Pickle," leaving the s off at the end of his name. Toki sometimes speaks in a mewling and child-like voice, and uses profanity less frequently than his band mates, though he is not unknown to, and is often treated as a sort of kid brother to the rest of the band. He frequently exclaims "Wowee!" when surprised.

He is sometimes shown holding or associated with the image of a teddy bear with a devilish tail, and is a popular icon to children, though he occasionally laments being seen as the "cutesy guy" in the band. He was also the first band member to realize that Dr. Twinkletits was insane.

A recurring joke in the series has been for Toki to make statements that unknowingly place him in scenarios with homosexual subtext through his naïveté and misunderstanding of English.

He has a crippling fear of bicentennial quarters, which originates in his traumatic childhood. It is known that he is punished with confinement in a cellar and it is suggested that the entrance to the cellar highly resembles bicentennial quarters.

Skills & HobbiesEdit

Toki spends much of his time building scale models.

Toki does not have a driving license.

He is sometimes shown playing an arrow-stomping game in the manner of Dance Dance Revolution.

Like Skwisgaar he shares an interest or moderate belief in both Nihilism and Norse mythology.

Music TalentsEdit

In conjunction with his personality and role in the band, he is the only member who has no prior band experience.

Demonstrating effective rhythm guitar styling, Toki's guitar line provides supporting chords and flourish to strengthen Skwisgaar's lead guitar line, and sometimes follows behind guitar solos in a call-and-response manner. A frequent recurring joke involves Skwisgaar criticizing Toki's guitar playing or suggesting that Toki be turned down or rerecorded, preferably by himself. It is later revealed that Skwisgaar does this as an act of defense due to his fear of Toki becoming better than him. As shown by his ability to play Dethklok's lead guitar parts in the tribute band Thunderhorse, Toki may very well be the only guitarist remotely capable of keeping up with Skwisgaar, pretty much making him the world's second fastest guitarist. It is unknown exactly how well Toki compares with the styles of Magnus Hammersmith though as the only known Dethklok song credited to Magnus is "The Hammer," which is not one the band's faster songs.

Toki does not practice nearly as much as Skwisgaar though and seldom - if ever - joins rehersals (an act which may also contribute to Skwisgaar's paranoia as Toki appears not to need practice to play well).

Toki does not participate in the songwriting process, saying, "Honestly, I don't wants no creative voice; it's cool," and does not practice guitar, even after seeking guitar lessons. This trait is in complete contrast with Magnus Hammersmith's, which might've been the main reasoning behind Dethklok's hiring him.

Toki is frequently ostracized from the rest of the band, partly due to his not practicing or writing songs, but mostly because Murderface draws him away. In fact, he once revealed during a major court case against the rest of Dethklok that he had no idea what songwriting residuals were, and pointing out that they did not deserve them because they did not write songs.

As well as guitar, Toki has been known to play the keyboard and can be heard in various songs including "Castratikron" and "Go Forth and Die" (which may perhaps be the reason he repeatedly confuses his guitar lessons for piano lessons in "Dethlessons").

RelationshipsEdit

Nathan ExplosionEdit

Nathan often acts as a father-figure to Toki and when the other band members are not around is the only one who will really express concern enough to bring Toki out. Toki asks him if the real reason he's saying it is because he cares about him, Nathan responds, "Don't do this to me right now" and then instructs him not to throw up, to no avail. However, in "Fatherklok", he is shown to have gotten over his father's death, as he says he is completely fine with it. In "Dethcamp" when Toki's snow globe is smashed, it is Nathan who exacts revenge.

Skwisgaar Skwigelf Edit

Toki has a particular friendship with fellow Scandinavian guitarist Skwisgaar Skwigelf and the pair are often seen discussing the plot's philosophical elements, such as the male sex drive in Girlfriendklok, the pros and cons of fatherhood in Fatklok, marriage and family in Dethwedding, and the circle of life in Performanceklok. Due to their similar Scandinavian roots, another recurring scene involves one of the two correcting or informing the other on an aspect of the English language or American culture, though they are often both incorrect. In contrast to these interactions and their frequently being shown together, the two characters consistently bicker with each other throughout the series. These arguments are usually sparked by belittling comments from Skwisgaar, often related to Toki's inferior guitar skills.

William MurderfaceEdit

Toki and Murderface tends to get along, though do not always see eye to eye. Like the other band members, Murderface tends to belittle Toki and appears to have the least amount of patience with him. Murderface is a considerable bad influence on Toki, frequently drawing him into schemes against the band simply by telling him what to do. Toki is usually largely unaware of the reasons for the scheme, though this could be due to the fact that Murderface is the most immature of the group and combined with Toki's child-like innocence is able to talk on level with him and pressurize him into doing things. Usually, the band primarily blames Murderface for these indictments, knowing that Toki was probably pressured into joining him.

PicklesEdit

After Nathan, Pickles is the second most fatherly figure to Toki and after Skwisgaar the second member Toki is likely to consult in for advice. If Pickles does something destructive, Toki joins in for the sake of it even if he has no reason for joining in.

Charles Foster OfdensenEdit

Charles is often straight with Toki and tries to reason with him on his level. Whenever they have meetings, however, Toki is one of the members least likely to take the meeting serious and will join in with any antics the others come up with.

In "RenovationKlok", Toki admits to Pickles that he misses their manager (whom the band believes to be dead).

Dr. RockzoEdit

A testament to his more accepting and caring nature, Toki is the only person who does not react to Dr. Rockzo with utter disgust, and later motivates him to overcome his drug addiction.

Magnus HammersmithEdit

Being unaware of the history of Magnus and why he left the band, Toki trusts him after Magnus saves his life; a trust which later he comes to regret when Toki is literally stabbed in the back by him.

FamilyEdit

Toki's parents were harsh to Toki and he is also afraid of them. When they are first introduced, Toki falls into a deep catatonic state and refuses to talk, to the point where even the other band members notice it. Despite the abuse he received as a child and his hatred of his father, he still was able to come to terms when he attempted to take his father to the place he was born to die.

HistoryEdit

ChildhoodEdit

Toki was born and raised in an abandoned village near Lillehammer and the only child of Aslaug Wartooth and Anja Wartooth. Toki's father is a Reverend in a mysterious and seemingly cult-like religion which apparently involves taking a vow of silence or similar discipline.

Season1Edit

Toki became the fifth member and the replacement for Magnus Hammersmith some time after he left (judging the change in appearance of the other members of the band). The time he spent with the band is unknown, however it is known that Dethklok is his first band, indicating he has no previous music experience.

Toki fell into the role of being the member who appealed to children. In "Dethkids" Toki attempts to get away from his image and ends up falling back into it; though not before the girl who was visiting him from the Make-A-Wish foundation died.

While performing "Go into the Water" live on stage, he and Skwisgarr where separated by the band when the Metal Faced Man knocked their pods into each other.

Season2Edit

After the attack he like the other band members were reluctant to return to music. They are coaxed back into performing.

In "Dethlessons", Toki attempts to get better after being tired of living in Skwisgaar's shadows and although does not improve (mostly due to his own failure to practice) and in the process forms a relationship with his Guitar tutor. While in the middle of a recital, Toki breaks down and admits he can't do this, Skwisgaar apologizes for his jealous ways and Toki's tutor dies.

In "Cleanso" Toki attempts to help Dr. Rockzo give up his ways and aids him to getting through Rehab.

In "Dethrace" he and Skwisgaar are caught drunk and driving, leading to criminal charges made against them. Since both do not have licenses they are forced to take lessons and pass their test in order to make up for their actions.

In "Dethdad" Toki has to deal with the death of his father, eventually after avoiding visiting his father (and running away), his band cox him to visit his father. While attempting to do the dying request of his father, Toki slips and his father falls through the ice of a nearby lake, sinking into the waters and drowning.

After his father's death, Toki seems to go insane, during "Snakes n' Barrels II" Part 2, Toki beats a annoying guy who was shouting in his ear during the concert to death with his bare hands. He also in the same episode registered the URL of "Planet Piss" and upset William Murderface by filling the URL with images of a degrading nature.

In "Dethrelease", Toki's insanity takes a turn and he becomes completely drunk leading to the other band members to mock his actions while wasted. During the attack on Mordhaus, Toki is separated from the others with Nathan. When Nathan is attacked by Lavona Succuboso, Toki defends Nathan by smashing his beer bottle over her head knocking her out. Nathan drags Toki away and tells him he is taking things too far and that he is concerned by Toki's actions. Toki then proceeds to throw up. Toki is seen with the others looking at the fallen Charles Foster Ofdensen.

Season3Edit

Toki seems to recover after this from his spiral downwards and like other bandmembers has to deal with the loss of their manager. He is the only one to openly admit his misses him.

In "Tributeklok" Toki was found to have joined a tribute band called "Thunder Horse" as Skwisgarr's representative.

In "Dethmas" Toki attempts to buy gifts for the other band members only to have his gifts stolen by Dr Rockzo. A furious Toki is then knocked down by a fallen pillar and left trapped after the Christmas special Murderface and Dick Knubbler were hosted.

In "Fertilityklok", the other band members kidnap Toki for his birthday and present him with girls so that he could have sex with as a present. Toki, however, expresses his desires to have a wife and rejects the present to persue a serious relationship. He tries to soul mate using a dating service (which unknowns to him was a set up). After a chat with Pickles he decides to "let his dick decide" and returns to just having sex with the girls.

In "Dethsiduals" Toki joins Murderface in a class action law suit against the other band members over songwriting residuals (though Toki has no idea what this means), which ultimately leads to both of them being put on musical suspension. They attempt to prove themselves by starting Murdertooth Records with the Nu Metal band Get Thee Hence. Toki fouls up any attempt to gain writer's credits though when he fills out the songwriting contracts in Norwegian. Despite this though, Toki and Murderface are allowed back into Dethklok just in time for Get Thee Hence to open for Dethklok for the first time, an action which turns bloody when the crowd turns on the Nu Metal band for their bad attitudes and sloppy performance. Dethklok watches in shock off stage, though Toki appears to be the only one unaffected by it all.

In "Dethzazz", Toki attempts to reunite Dr. Rockzo's band, when it falls Toki is left depressed at his failed attempt to reunite. In the end Dr. Rockzo succeeds in reuniting, though Toki's own fear of quarters led to the stage being destroyed.

In "Doublebookedklok"" Toki runs away with the other band members due to Charles' anger after they double booked a performance between two countries that hated each other leading to the prospect of them going to war if one got DethKlok and not the other. They return to perform the concert and prevent the war between the two countries. Duriing this time, Toki has developed an unhealthy hitting routine in order to gain more attention from the other bandmates, which plays once again into his role as the band's "little brother."

Season4Edit

As Season 4 opens, Toki is still neglected by the band despite his numerous attempts to gain acceptance. From his falling to peer pressure to smoke in "Fanklok" or his starting his own Special Person's Invite Club in "Diversityklok," Toki can't get anywhere.

Despite all this, Toki's relationship with Skwisgaar at least appears to have improved, especially when they're both prank called by Murderface in "Prankklok" when they try using his credit card to purchase incredibly illegal products as revenge. This improved relationship takes a dip momentarily in "Bookklok" when Toki writes a tell-all book about his years of verbal abuse from Skwisgaar.

However, Toki soon realizes that he feels the need to make friends outside of Dethklok in "Dethcamp." He does this by attending Rock-A-Roonie Fantasy Camp, where his innocence and diabetes make him an instant target for bullying. Instead of campers though, he finds a friend in guest councilor, Magnus Hammersmith, who injects Toki with insulin when he's smothered with cake.

Toki's lack of interest in obtaining writing credits persist through Season 4. His obsession with non-Dethklok friends also extends to his online profile in "Dethdinner" where he posts pics and threads about everything he does with them and even brings Dr. Rockso to the new album's promotional dinner.

When Dethklok momentarily disbands, Toki attempts to work as Murderface's unpaid intern when he runs for Congressman for New Jersey, which backfires when Toki accidentally emails lewd pictures of Murderface to the press. During this time, he continues his ties with Magnus despite Dr. Rockso's harsh warnings about him.

These warnings are justified at the season finale, "Church of the Black Klok." Toki joins Magnus to the funeral of Roy Cornickelson and is held back by Magnus when Dethklok rejoins and the Revengencers launch an ambush against them. During the ambush, Magnus betrays Toki and stabs him through the back. Toki's fate is unknown, but some in the Church of the Black Klok believe him to still be alive but in the hands of their enemy.

TrivaEdit

In Dethcarraldo, Toki's spirit animal is revealed to be a Rabbit, unlike the other band members, Toki's spirit animal was made up of several rabbits that formed a bigger rabbit figure.
In the first season his voice was a lower tone, his accent less obvious and the 's' inconsistency was rarer. As the series progresses his voice becomes higher and his accent more obvious.
- Since both he and Skwisgaar have the 's' trait it's possible that Toki is subconsciously copying the Swede's speech pattern, leading to accusations that they are copying each other by both Toki and Skwisgaar.
His bedroom has a distinctly boyish look to it, featuring model aircraft, action figures, and posters of sharks, boats, and planets; he is also the only member of Dethklok who sleeps in a single-occupant bed.
A testament to his more trusting nature, in the episode Cleanzo Toki is shown as a child in a photograph with John Wayne Gacy, the infamous serial killer clown, even though Toki was raised in Norway.
A running gag in the series is the death of something or someone Toki grows fond of at the end of the series. This has given him the nickname of "angel of death", called so by both fans and the Tribunal.
Toki is a type-1 diabetic
